Sky Italia’s inside man Gianluca Di Marzio has published a new transfer rumour relating to one of the early stars of the 2013-14 Champions League, Basel’s Egyptian midfielder Mohamed Salah.
Mohamed Salah attracted global attention from the outset of this season’s Champions League for footballing and political reasons.
The Swiss side overcame Maccabi Tel Aviv in the Champions League qualifiers, and Salah’s interaction with the Israelis was controversial. In the match in Basel the Egyptian cleverly missed the hand-shaking pre-match pomp, while in the return leg in Tel Aviv the forward only offered fist-bumps to his opponents.
During the matches, though, Salah really did his talking.
Salah scored once against Maccabi, before scoring two more goals against Bulgarian side Ludogorets in order to get Basel into the group phase of the competition. Then, away at Chelsea this week, Salah curled in a beauty in the shock result of match day one.
Now Salah is courting transfer interest, and Sky Italia place Tottenham at the top of the list. Spurs are well aware of Salah after he scored against the Lilllywhites last season in the Europa League.
Di Marzio is confident that “Basel will sell in June “, if not earlier, with the 21-year-old attacking midfielder set to cost at least eight million euros.
