It really is a sign of the times that after every miss in world football, the player in question is now immediately compared to Fernando Torres’ infamous FAIL at Old Trafford.
This was yet again the case in Sweden following Elfsborg’s 3-2 home win over Helsingborg on Wednesday evening as promising midfielder Nicklas Hult produced a late horror miss.
Hult had earlier claimed the opener for Elfsborg but on 90 minutes the 21-year-old had a great chance to make it 4-2. He did well to beat the keeper but was put off by Helsingborg defender Christoff Andersson when presented with an empty net.
After the match, Hult was questioned on whether his miss was worse than Fernando Torres’. “It must be his! Andersson said afterwards he tried to kick me. I can live with the mistake,” was his response.
Although it did not affect the outcome of the match, Aftonbladet reported after the game that Hult had been watched by scouts from Marseille and Porto.
