After the judgement came the celebratory responses.
The big story in Wednesday in Blighty is that Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp, and Milan Mandaric, the owner of Sheffield Wednesday, have both been acquitted on tax evasion charges.
Redknapp, tipped as the future England manager after Fabio Capello steps down, reacted to his acquittal saying “My family have really pulled through it these last five years that this has been hanging over us. I’m really just looking forward to getting home. It really has been a nightmare, I’ve got to be honest.”
Redknapp also thanked the Spurs supporters for all their support during the past few weeks, whilst the club in turn released a statement saying “We are pleased to see this resolved and we all look forward to the rest of the season.”
Harry Redknapp’s post-court interview can be seen here.
As for Mandaric, the Owls’ supermo chugged “I’ve got to go somewhere to try to pinch myself and wake me up from that horrible dream that I had in the past. As we said in the statements, I always believed in the truth, and always believed in the British justice system.”

The most contentious issue which came out during the court case centred on a phone call between Harry Redknapp and then News of the World journalist Rob Beasley.
Redknapp admitted in court that he had lied to Beasley in 2009 about the source of the cash payment on which the whole case revolved, having sold him the fib that it was a bonus payment related to the sale of Peter Crouch from Portsmouth to Aston Villa. As we now know, the money was given as a gesture of friendship from Mandaric to Redknapp.
Redknapp argued “I don’t have to tell Mr Beasley the truth. I have to tell the police the truth, but not Mr Beasley. He’s a News of the World reporter.”
Now the infamous conversation between Redknapp and Beasley has been released.
