Scandinavian football was shamed on Friday after a pre-season friendly between Swedish outfit GAIS and their Norwegian opponents Lillestrom was disrupted when rival fans faced off in violent scenes.
Playing under a dome in an indoor training facility, trouble began after a gang of GAIS supporters arrived a few minutes into the match. It wasn’t long before the opposing fans were then caught throwing bottles and other missiles at one another before police and stewards intervened to separate the rivals factions.
Lillestrom went on to win the match 1-nil.
