ITV aren’t always known for their perfect timing, with adverts often getting in the way of the action (who can forget their 2010 World Cup mishap as Steven Gerrard scored England’s first goal in the tournament).
On Wednesday evening though, ITV4 produced sensational planning by airing their much anticipated documentary: “Lionel Messi: World’s Greatest player” just a few minutes after “The Flea” had scored five goals against Bayer Leverkusen for the first time in his career.
Collecting together a host of excellent pundits, with (Bumper) Graham Hunter prominently talking us through Messi’s career from his roots in Argentina to his status today, as the best player on the planet.
ITV claim “previously unseen and rare footage of a young Lionel Messi” and whilst much of it is on YouTube, this is a superb piece of work.
As ever with Messi, it says much about how brilliant the Barcelona striker is, when serious documentaries like this are being made and he is only 24!
