The best Twitter reaction to Raheem Sterling v Antonio Valencia [Tweets]
- Updated: June 4, 2014
England didn’t get the result there were hoping for in their last friendly match before the World Cup, drawing 2-2 with Ecuador.
Worse still, they lost their discipline at times with Raheem Sterling sent off for a challenge on Antonio Valencia and Valencia also given a red card for the violent way he reacted to the tackle. Neither player will face a suspension for the World Cup.
Jack Wilshere came to his teammates defence but was roundly mocked on Twitter for daring to square up to Valencia.
Below are some of the best tweets about the scuffle.
Wilshere came over like he was ready for the war… Wilshere that ain't lamps. Valencia will discipline you!

Only just seen the Sterling/Valencia incident. Cowardly from Valencia to attack from behind. I liked Wilshere's reaction, showed heart.

Wilshere mate. Valencia would end you. He would just have to run away from you and you'd struggle breathing after smoking 20 a day.

Jack Wilshere is hilarious. Not really sure what he does other than sit down a lot and pretend to be hard every now and then.
