Swansea striker Bafetimbi Gomis explains collapse at Spurs on Twitter

One of the big stories of the night in the Premier League on Wednesday was the sudden collapse of Swansea’s French forward Bafetimbi Gomis on the White Hart Lane pitch.

Evoking eerie memories of Fabrice Muamba’s collapse at the same stadium, there was immediate concern for the former Lyon striker.

Gomis collapsed just seconds after Tottenham took the lead through Nacer Chadli, who volleyed home a Danny Rose cross.

Immediately, both teams’ medical staffs entered the pitch and Gomis was immediately removed from the action.

Despite the initial concerns, by half-time fears had been allayed that Gomis was ok and there would be no lasting damage.

The Swansea forward has a history of feinting and collapsing in training and matches, which was alluded to by Garry Monk after the game.

Despite the loss of Gomis, Swansea battled well, losing 3-2 at White Hart Lane but they were only denied the draw by a terrific late save from Hugo Lloris.

Late on Wednesday evening, Gomis took to Twitter to explain the fall – see the Tweets above.
