Sunderland close in on the signing of Juve’s Emanuele Giacherrini [Northern Echo]
On Tuesday Jozy Altidore was unveiled as Sunderland’s new striker by Paolo Di Canio after his £8.5M move from AZ Alkmaar.
Di Canio has also been in contact with Juventus regarding the acquisition of Emanuele Giacherrini and it seems the two clubs are nearing a deal for the Italian.
The Northern Echo report that Sunderland had a £6.5M bid turned down but their new bid of £8M is likely to be accepted.
The 28 year old struggled for playing time last season in the star-studded Juventus squad, but given an opportunity at the Confederations Cup, Giacherrini showed he has a part to play in a top tier side.
