And yet more trouble from Greek football.
This incident comes from Saturday’s clash between Panathinaikos and Ergotelis, as the Greek powerhouse fell to only their second defeat of the season to lose further ground on leaders Olympiakos.
The turning point in the match arrived in the 53th minute, when Pana’s star-striker Ante Rukavina assaulted his marker Mario Hieblinger in a moment of madness. The pair seemed to be physically, but legally, jostling for position as a free-kick was being readied, only for Rukavina to turn on the number five and kick the centre-half in his legs.
With the ref just footsteps away from the incident, the man in black wasted little time pulling out his red card and ordering Rukavina to take an early shower.
Ante Rukavina’s stupid and violent assault can be seen here.
