Arsene Wenger Stoke vs Arsenal 2757012 Stoke fans & Gary Lineker on Match of the Day mock Arsenal boss Arsene WengerArsene Wenger may be credited with changing English footballers’ dietary habits and building a couple of the greatest teams seen in the Premier League era, but for many the Arsenal boss is seen as a figure of fun.

Late in Arsenal’s 1-1 draw at Stoke on Saturday, Dean Whitehead charged out of defence, chased by Laurent Koscielny. The Potters man took a pretty blatant dive right in front of Arsene Wenger, who was not happy with the decision.

“The Professor” proceeded to jump up and down, waving his arms, which the Stoke fans, almost to a man and woman, took as a cue to mock the Arsenal boss with their own impression of him.

For Wenger it was a difficult afternoon, whilst Arsenal look likely to secure third they are somewhat struggling over the line and Stoke made things difficult. Certain sections of the Britannia also booed Aaron Ramsey which is particularly insensitive.

Incredibly, Gary Lineker closed out Match of the Day on Saturday night by joining in with the Stoke fans and mocking Arsene Wenger’s flappy arm protest.

Whilst many will point to Lineker just having a laugh. Would the Match of the Day host take the mickey out of a British manager in this manner? It’s difficult to see the former England hitman imitating Kenny Dalglish or Harry Redknapp, for example.

And, on a day when Wenger had legitimate grievances with the Stoke crowd this was questionable behaviour from Lineker.
