Not to be left out, David Trezeguet continued his ridiculous form for River Plate in Argentina’s second division and scored one of the goals of the weekend.
The 34-year-old has enjoyed tremendous success back at his boyhood club, scoring seven goals in nine games and River Plate have not lost when Trezeguet has made an appearance.
Trezegeut set up Ramiro Funes Mori for River’s opener on 77, then slipped home a penalty for 2-0 four minutes later.
A further three minutes on came Trezeguet’s piece da resistance – a stunning strike into the top corner from a half cleared corner.
Sticking with the “still got it” theme, Juninho Pernambucano’s golazo for Vasco v Macae is also worth a watch, especially as it wasn’t a trademark free-kick.
