Steven Gerrard was quick to congratulate his Liverpool teammates after their ‘comfortable’ 2-0 win over Burnley at Anfield in the Premier League tonight.
It was a vital three points for the club as the top seven teams all won in this set of fixtures.
Liverpool have gotten used to picking up points – they have now taken 30 points from the previous 36 available to them.
Goalscorers Jordan Henderson and Daniel Sturridge received special praise from the Liverpool captain with many comparing Henderson’s turn to vintage Gerrard.
The former Sunderland midfielder opened the scoring with a rasping drive from the edge of the box before setting up Sturridge with a beautiful long range assist.
Gerrard was absent from the squad due to an injury which has prevented him from taking part in any action since Liverpool’s 3-2 win over Spurs on February 10th.
Many feel this isn’t necessarily a bad thing as Liverpool play better as a unit without their veteran midfielder.
