A new generation of Brazilian superstars are slowly coming out of the Samba factory, with one of the most hyped upstarts being Palmeiras’ 20-year-old forward Keirrison.
And for once the hype appears meritted.
Lightening quick, excellent technique, a keen eye for goal, Keirrison is one of South America’s hottest prospects. Having scored 33 goals in 63 matches at Coritiba over the course of two seasons, Kerrison was courted by Palmeiras last summer, and has already chalked up three goals in four games for his new employers this term.
But during last week’s Copa Libertadores match with Sport Recife an new ugly side of the striker was seen, as the fresh-faced number 9 was caught blatantly kicking out at Cesar Lucena after the pair tangled in the box following a corner. With Lucena falling to the ground, Keirrison was seen attempting to land a Cantona-esque karate-kick on his opponent, fortunately with the assailant screwing up his timing so as not to make direct contact.
Keirrison’s dirty kick-out can be seen here.
