“I’m proud to have represented my country & to play well and score really is a dream come true.” – Andros Townsend.
It was a dream full England debut for Tottenham winger Andros Townsend and it is safe to say the hype starts from now.
Score and assist on your England debut in a crucial World Cup qualifier and you can expect to be hailed as the saviour of the Three Lions.
Townsend, who has finally broken into the Spurs first team after nine loan spells, has been impressive in 2013/2014 for Andre Villas-Boas’ side without actually scoring in the Premier League.
So, whilst the goal for England’s third was the stand out moment, this isn’t something England can necessarily expect at the moment from Townsend.
Arguably his most important moment was the epic run down the right for Wayne Rooney’s goal and his general play, in tandem with Spurs full back Kyle Walker was mightily impressive.
Poland left back Gregorz Wojtkowiak must be quaking in his boots!
