Ibrahim Afellay is set to permanently leave Barcelona this summer, after four and half disappointing years with the Catalan club.
The Dutch winger has been plagued by injuries ever since joining Barcelona in 2010, and has spent the past two seasons out on loan; first at Schalke, and now at Olympiakos.
And with Barcelona now decided on letting the Dutch international go permanently this summer, Sport claim that Tottenham is his most likely destination.
Indeed, Spurs were reported to be in for Afellay back in 2010, but that soon passed when he ultimately signed for Barcelona.
With Aaron Lennon out on loan at Everton and unlikely to return to Spurs, the Londoners are in the market for a winger, and Afellay could be a good fit, albeit one entering the latter stages of his career.
At 29, Afellay’s career has sadly passed him by somewhat, but the Dutchman will be hoping he can rejuvenate himself with a move to England.
