The clash between Zenit St Petersburg and Spartak Moscow on Sunday produced one of the maddest red cards seen for some time.
We join the action (in the video below) in the 84th minute as Spartak launched an attack after Zenit had gone 2-1 up from a disputed penalty.
A right wing cross is gobbled up by Nigerian striker Emmanuel Emineke who runs off in celebration and celebrates by tapping his arm.
Milliseconds later, referee Vladimir Kazmenko pulls out the red card and Emineke goes from delirium to despair in no time at all.
Even after the Russian Premier League match there has still been no confirmed reason for the sending off, with many suspecting the referee thought Emineke was gesturing to him over the earlier penalty decision.
And this version is borne out by the video which shows Kazmenko tap his arm to the protesting players. Ridiculous!
Spartak Moscow went on to win the match against the Russian champions 3-2.
