The panel dove into a couple of transfer stories on Saturday as mooted moves of Wayne Rooney out of Manchester United to Real Madrid, and James Milner moving from Villa Park to Old Trafford, were discussed.
On any move of Wayne Rooney to the Bernabeu, while the consensus opinion was that such talk was pure folly, Scouser Phil Thompson felt that such a deal may not be too far fetched. Comparing Rooney to Fernando Torres, and claiming that both players need signings in the summer to convince them that their respective clubs are moving in the right direction, Thommo argued that Rooney could be the next Galacticos to arrive in the Spanish capital.

Next, the talking-heads wondered whether James Milner would be a Manchester United player come the start of next season. Alan McInally dismissed the rumour out of hand, believing that Villa would never sell the candidate for the PFA Young Player of the Year, however Paul Merson took the complete opposite line believing that there is a need for a Milner-type player at United and that a 20-25 million pound bid would force the Midlanders hands to make to sale.
