Tottenham fans were optimistic when Mauricio Pochettino was appointed as their next manager. The Southampton boss had earned a reputation for playing attractive football while getting results before he was handpicked by Daniel Levy.
As well as this, Spurs fans were hopeful that the appointment would help Erik Lamela realise his potential.
Lamela arrived from Roma for £30 million last summer but flopped, not having any sort of impact in his debut campaign for the club. However, the arrival of a fellow countryman was hoped to reinvigorate the playmaker.
And the early signs are giving Spurs’ fans hope. He scored a brace in the 3-2 friendly win over Toronto and performed this deliciously nonchalant nutmeg shown in the vine above.
