UK cinema has had a historic love affair with the football hooligan genre. There has been ID, Green Hooligans and The Football Factory to name but a few. And soon the latest offering will hit the big screen.
Unimaginatively named “The Firm,” director Nick Love takes on the challenge of remaking Alan Clarke’s original 1989 UK TV drama which focused on UK football hooligan culture, by creating an updated version with a plot that centres on Dom, an aspiring casual, who gets drawn into the charismatic but dangerous world of the firm’s leader, Bex.
Heard it all before? Potentially.
A sneak peek of “The Firm,” a scene watching the coming together of West Ham and Millwall fans back in 1984, can be seen here.
