It looks like Everton are ready to show their hand in the January transfer market.
According to rumours breaking on Monday, the Evertonians are posed to sign FC Twente’s Dutch international midfielder Leroy Fer for £8.5m.
23-year-old Fer began his professional career at Feyenoord before being snapped up by Steve McClaren’s Twente at the start of the 2011/12 season for €5.5m.
Fer is a solid central midfielder.
Whilst not exceptional by any means, Fer is known for his good work ethic and reputation for working hard and efficiently, and the midfield anchor is undoubtedly a solid signing should David Moyes snap up the young Dutchman.
Should the Toffees complete this signing, eyebrows will no doubt be raised in Marouane Felliani’s direction as speculation over the Belgian’s future at Goodison Park will intensify.
Fer has made 12 appearances for Twente this season scoring three goals in the process.
