A world-class goal was smashed into a top corner in South Africa last weekend.
Kaizer Chiefs beat the Free State Stars 2-1 on Saturday to maintain their standing at the top of the South African Premier League, but the opening goal of the game went to the visitors and it was a doozy.
Fikru Tefera, an Ethiopian centre-forward playing just his second game for the Free State Stars since joining from Vietnam’s Thanh Hoa, broke the deadlock with a shoo-in contender for goal of the season.
In the 50th Tefera rolled a Kaizer Chief midfielder as he broke down the inside right channel. The 27-year-old then played a 1-2 with Danny Venter, and the return pass bounced just outside the Kaizer Chiefs box, behind Tefera.
So what did Tefera do?
With a first touch his flicked the ball up into the air, and then he contorted his body to rifle off a sublime scissors-kick which arrowed into the far top corner.
