”If Pique and Ramos do not get along, they’ll be dropped. They are young kids with their differences, but we have no problems.” – Spain coach Vicente del Bosque.
The above quote, given on Tuesday in a radio interview, is simply incredible from del Bosque, a wily old veteran left without Carles Puyol due to injury at the upcoming European Championships.
Spain’s centre back pairing at Euro 2012 will almost certainly be made up of Gerard Pique and Sergio Ramos with both defenders symbols of their clubs, who have had numerous spats in La Liga.
Del Bosque also added that “The atmosphere between Barcelona and Real Madrid players is good… I am very happy that it is this way.”
Ramos and Pique are undoubtedly world class defenders when playing at their peak. Whilst the former was excellent in the past campaign, the latter had his ups and downs.
This video below shows a number of the Ramos-Pique spats – which is an interesting back drop to predicting Spain’s fortunes at Euro 2012.
