If it feels like we only produced a post like this the other day, it’s because we did.
Europa League boffins were put to work last week when Metalist Kharkiv forward Taison, named after boxer Mike Tyson (with a spelling mistake), capitalised on a horror defensive error from RB Salzburg to put the Ukranians 1-0 up after just 19 seconds.
That placed the Brazilian striker as the joint second fastest Europa League scorer , however his mantle was short-lived as Sergio Aguero muscled into outright second-plce in the charts with his lightning fast goal against Porto on Wednesday evening.
With Joe Cole now usurped , here is the revised list of the five fastest goals in the Europa League history:
1. Ismael Blanco (AEK) v BATE Borisov (November 5, 2009) – 13 seconds
2. Sergio Aguero (Manchester City) v FC Porto (February 21, 2012) – 18 seconds
3. Taison (Metalist Kharkiv) v RB Salzburg (February 16, 2012) – 19 seconds
4. Juan Mata (Valencia) v Club Brugge (February 25, 2010) – 19 seconds
5. Bobby Zamora (Fulham) v Wolfsburg (April 8, 2010) – 21 seconds

And before you ask, the quickest goal in UEFA Cup history was scored by David Bellion for Bordeaux against Galatasaray in the final year of the competition, in 2009.
