Sixteen months after taking the Liverpool job for a second time, Kenny Dalglish was summarily sacked from his post on Wednesday evening.
Rumours had been swirling for several days that axe could be wielded by American owners FSG after Liverpool suffered their worst league campaign in 18 years, and King Kenny has now suffered the ultimate price just days after the season’s conclusion.
Liverpool’s season was a mixed bag though: Dalglish achieved success winning the Carling Cup for the Reds, while the Scousers also reached the FA Cup final. That, however, was balanced a last day loss at Swansea that cemented Liverpool’s lowest points tally since 1953/54.
Looking to recap a year of (few) highs and (greater) lows for Kenny Dalglish, here are some of his more memorable moments from his second (and surely final) reign in the Liverpool dugout.
1) John W Henry and Tom Werner celebrate Carling Cup victory in the Liverpool dressing room
2) The Geoff Shreeves interview: Kenny Dalglish after Luis Suarez refused to shake Patrice Evra’s hand at Old Trafford
3) Kenny Dalglish: “[Suarez's] wife calls him [a negro] and I don’t think he is offended by her!”
4) Steven Gerrard shoos Kenny Dalglish off the pitch (Newcastle 2 – Liverpool 0)
