Romarinho, son of Romario, scores for Vasco v San Francisco

All eyes in Brazil, with the regular season still a few months away, are on the youth teams that are appearing to supply the football mad country with their fix.

On Thursday, Vasco de Gama overcame San Francisco 3-2 in the Sao Paulo Junior Cup and a certain youngster has made headlines for scoring a typical predatory goal, of which his father would have been proud.

Romarinho, son of Romario, the former Brazil striker and now Congressman, was a second half substitute for Vasco and notched the third goal with a near post header from a corner.

Ronaldo, another former Brazil striking legend, currently struck down with Dengue Fever, wrote on his Twitter account moments after the goal: “Romarinho proves DNA is ace!”
