River Plate Ecuador goalkeeper Juan Molina was one of the poor souls caught in one of these dreaded collisions.
He bravely went to collect the ball but Deportivo Cuenca striker Freddy Araujo didn’t pull out of his attempt to win the challenge and accidentally stood on Molina’s face.
Unfortunately Molina couldn’t continue and needed to be stretchered off.
