“Tragedy on the field. After suffering a cardiac arrest during the match between Pescara and Livorno, Piermario Morosini has died. The 25-year-old player, who came through the youth ranks with Atalanta, arrived at Livorno from Udinese in January and played nine times for the Amaranto.” – Serie B statement.
Terrible news came through from Serie B this Saturday afternoon, as Livorno midfielder Piermario Morosini died after suffering a cardiac arrest during the match with Pesacara.
Morisini fell to the ground just after the half hour of the Serie B match but a defibrilator could not revive the 25-year-old, on loan from Udinese.
Adding to the tragedy, is the news in recent minutes that a police traffic car was blocking the entrance for the ambulance to reach Morisini.
The Serie B encounter was called off immediately, subsequently all matches in the top two Italian divisions this weekend have been cancelled.
Please be aware that the video above is distressing and heartbreaking.
