Riot police step in after PAOK and Rapid Vienna fans clash in Greece

PAOK’s match against Rapid Vienna in the Europa League on Thursday night was marred by violent clashes between rival sets of supporters.

According to reports, some 800 Rapid fans travelled to Greece for the match, and they were greeted by a violent crowd of PAOK supporters who threw rocks, bottles and flares outside the stadium.

Those clashes moved inside the ground as kick-off approached, where a 10 minute battle was waged between the Greek and Austrian fans. Eventually riot police stepped in to restore order, but that was only after missiles were hurled from one group into the other and after fans had spilled onto the pitch.

Amazingly no arrests or injures were reported.

Watch footage of the deplorable violent clashes below.
