Rio Ferdinand says he’d like young Man United centre-backs to get a chance at club [Tweets]

Rio Ferdinand has said on Twitter that he’d like to see Manchester United’s young centre-backs get a chance at the club.

United will be without Ferdinand and long-term defensive partner Nemanja Vidic from next season onwards and will have to settle upon a defensive pairing.

We can assume that Ferdinand is referring to the likes of Phil Jones, Chris Smalling, Jonny Evans and Michael Keane when he refers to defenders he believes in.

But having said that, the veteran defender also said, in response to a fan’s question, that he’s a fan of Raphael Varane, the France and Real Madrid centre-half.
