With the eyes of the globe on Stamford Bridge on Wednesday, it is unlikely too many people were keeping an eye on the Greek Super League clash between Kerkyra and OFI.
Kerkyra secured a much needed 4-1 win and in the process scored a goal that is already being hailed in Greece as the best of the season.
On 93 minutes played, Kerkyra defender Timo Wenzel, a 34-year-old German defender, who hadn’t scored a goal before claiming the second against OFI, took a swipe at a ball just outside his own area.
The ball bounced once before beating OFI keeper Philippos Sachsanidis who is likely to see his face on the blooper videos for years to come. Wenzel meanwhile, went bezerk and was mobbed by his team mates.
