Ribery claps the Velodrome as he’s booed off & M’Bia elbows Gomez in the face (Marseille 0 – Bayern Munich 2)

“It is always difficult for me to play in France. But now I play for Bayern, who are a great family. I have been here for five years. I feel just fine, everything is perfect for me.” – Franck Ribery.

One half of the Champions League draw looks completely wrapped up. First leg away victories for Real Madrid and Bayern Munich means their semi-final meeting is all but assured and with the final at the Allianz Arena it should be a cracking tie.

There were a couple of intriguing moments during Bayern’s win in France. First off, Franck Ribery was on the end of plenty of abuse at the Stade Velodrome, with the Marseille fans in no mood to welcome back their former winger with any niceties.

When Ribery was substituted with just over 10 minutes to go he made a point of clapping the whole stadium, presumably in a sarcastic move designed to prove he wasn’t bothered about the hot reception.

Ribery clapping and saluting the Marseille fans as he is subbed off is here.
