Last Friday, using their connections at their former club, Gianfranco Zola and Steve Clarke watched their reserve side play a friendly match against Chelsea at the Blues’ training ground.
With some famous names on the pitch including Brazilian defender Alex and Portuguese winger Ricardo Quaresma as well as Florent Malouda, one player stood out and he was wearing claret and blue.
Junior Stanislas bagged a fine hat-trick, with his first and third goals particularly impressive. Franco Di Santo had put Chelsea in front with a fine finish but Stanislas equalised after the break and then added another after poor defending from Alex.
Anthony Edgar scored a fine third for the Hammers before Stanislas completed his hat-trick and there was still time for Quaresma to pull back a lovely second for the hosts.
