Despicable scenes marred Sunday’s meeting between Morocco’s Raja Casablanca and Angola’s Petro de Luanda in the Confederation of African Football Cup.
After the sides drew their first-leg 1-all in Casablanca, Sunday witnessed the reverse tie which was settled by a solitary strike from visiting striker Ridy. The defeat sparked a furious response from the Moroccan powerhouse, who opted to vent their anger by attacking the match referee at the full-time whistle.
Number three, Zakaria Zerouali, began the trouble when he spat at the back of the head of the referee as the official was trying to walk away from any confrontation. And that was quickly followed by Mouhssine Moutouali cuffing the ref around the back of the head as the situation quickly deteriorated.
Footage of the Raja Casablanca players attacking the ref can be seen here.
