Usually these days we’ve opted not to talk about the bets we made last week as, whether we win or lose, old bets are old news. Unfortunately today we need to vent about our bet for Thursday night’s Genoa-Juve match as we correctly picked both Vincenzo Iaquinta and David Trezeguet to score, which they did, but we also plumped for a Juve win, which didn’t happen. Hurumph!

First up this weekend we aim to pick off three potential home bankers in the Football League.
Leeds have be grabbing all the League One headlines with their fabulous start to the season, but bubbling nicely just below them in the table are third-placed Bristol Rovers and second-place Charlton Athletic. This weekend both title hopefuls face teams who they should beat, Brighton arriving at Ashton Gate while the Valley plays host to Exeter.
Dropping down one division, with seven wins from their first eight games of the season AFC Bournemouth have already opened up a three point gap at the top of League Two. The Cherries will also be confident of adding another three points on Saturday when Burton come to town.
Saturday night in Spain sees all three top goalscorers in the division – Messi, Ronaldo & Villa all have five goals so far – all line up for their respective clubs in a feast of La Liga action. Barcelona travel to struggling Malaga, Real Madrid play host to Tenerife while Valencia face crisis-club Atletico Madrid.
On Sunday two of Europe’s worst teams so far this season, Xerez in Spain and Hertha Berlin in Germany, face tough away trips to Espanyol and Hoffenheim respectively. Both away teams have lost their last five straight games and on Sunday those dismal records are set to continue.
