Last week proved a limited success in our predictions. On the plus side, we ended with a profit of £4.14 which, while hardly enough to retire on, is undoubtedly better than a loss. On the downside only one of four bets came to fruition with Manchester United winning at Arsenal.

Onto this weekend’s forecasts and we start by a homey home double in Belgium. It remains touch-and-go at the top of the Jupiler League as Standard and Anderlecht continue to battle it out, and this weekend second-placed Liege host fourth-placed Club Brugge in a must-win game for Standard. Also on Saturday sixth-placed Lokeren, riding high off three successive league wins, welcome fourth-bottom Dender as the visitors battling for their top flight status.
The Premier League also appears to offer a couple of home bankers which we also intend to cash in on.
The only reason why Sunderland – one win, two draws and seven defeats in their last 10 matches – may survive relegation is not because of their own form but rather that the sides below them are even more useless than the Black Cats. Ricky Sbragia looks like a man without a plan, his side look bereft of confidence and heading to Bolton, the Ginger Mourinho will be expecting three home points. (Full match odds here.)
On Sunday Manchester United host City in the derby and, barring something straight out of left-field, Sir Alex’s side will continue their march towards completing yet another historic and trophy-laden season. (Full match odds here.)
As is becoming standard, we are also looking to take some bigger risks in order to achieve bigger rewards.
The massive match in Serie A this weekend sees AC Milan play host to Juventus at the San Siro. The Rossoneri are ending the season in style, and with Pippo Inzaghi in a purple patch of 11 goals in 9 games, Carlo Ancelotti’s charges remain the only team left with the faintest hope of knocking Inter off of top spot. Juventus, meanwhile, head into the fixture with huge black clouds hovvering over the squad after rumours of a major halftime bust-up during last weekend’s match at Lecce has left a sour taste in the Bianconeri’s mouth. (Full match odds here.)
Finally, we are backing two draws in Spain on Sunday.
Recreativo claimed a dramatic late win last weekend at Osasuna but the Andalusians remain deep in the relegation mire as they host high-flying Depor this weekend. While over in Madrid, Espanyol, who have turned their season around with four back-to-back victories, travel to hit-and-miss Atletico.
With the Recreativo-Deportivo match priced at 11/5 on the draw and the Atletico-Espanyol match set at 13/8 for the deadlock, we wish our £5 is converted into a £52.60 profit.
