Plymouth Argyle fans & Paul Whitehouse star in a new car insurance ad (video)

Whether its a soft drink, shaver or latest pair of designer sun-glasses, corporate Britain has consistently employed footballers to sell their brands. Now car insurance company Aviva has jumped on the football bandwagon too, although they have taken a slightly more laid-back approach to their sales tactics.

Professional funny man Paul Whitehouse stars as the lead Plymouth Argyle fan – the Pilgrims being the most South-Westerly professional team in the football league – opening with the line “it costs a fortune supporting Plymouth Argyle. Newcastle away today. That’s a long haul poke, innit!”

A splattering of local jokes are then sprinkled throughout the ad including “Alright Big Dave! Alright Bhey, Alright Burrd! Geddon you Janner!”
