Everton midfielder Darron Gibson, currently sidelined with a hip injury, made the weekend for a handful of Toffee fans when he chose to watch the FA Cup tie at Bolton sitting with the away fans.
Following in the footsteps of Manchester United’s Ashley Young, rather than watching the match in the comfort of a box or some other executive seat, Gibbo chose to experience the FA Cup tie amongst all the regular fans.
Moreover, the Everton centre-mid made himself hugely accessible to fans at the Reebok arena, as evidenced by a series of photos posted onto Twitter in the hours following the match.
At a time when many football fans feel disassociated with the lives of Premier League footballers, Darron Gibson’s behaviour should be applauded and celebrated.
