IMG 20120221 WA000 450x700 Picture Special: Gazzetta find Andre Villas Boas teamsheet for Napoli versus ChelseaItalian media outlet Gazzetta claim to have the inside scoop on Andre Villas Boas’ selection ahead of Napoli versus Chelsea in the Champions League.

The big news is that Didier Drogba has been left out of the attack.

As can be seen on the photograph of piece of paper attached, the Blues team reads Cech, Ivanovic, Cahill, John Terry, Ashley Cole, Michael Essien, Ramires, Raul Meireles, Frank Lampard, Juan Mata and Daniel Sturridge as the lone striker.

Chelsea’s system adopts a 4-3-3 model in which Mata and Ramires will be asked to join Sturridge in a three-pronged attack when the Blues are on the offensive.

According to Gazzetta, AVB’s left his crib sheet “unattended” at the Hotel Vesuvio on Monday night, however the paper failed to delve into the details of how exactly this piece of paper came into their possession.

Should this turn out to be the actual Chelsea starting eleven in Naples, it would also mean that David Luiz and Fernando Torres find themselves out of the Pensioners’ XI have both started in the 1-1 draw with Birmingham last weekend in the FA Cup.

There is reason to believe however that this tactics sheet shouldn’t be trusted.

As was revealed by the Daily Mail earlier today, “John Terry is set to miss Chelsea’s crucial Champions League encounter against Napoli tonight – as well as England’s friendly against Holland next week – because of injury.”

Should Terry miss the match in Italy, one can expect David Luiz to partner Gary Cahill at the heart of the Blues defence.
