It’s been a while since we brought you a goal celebration which lead to a red card, but sadly for former Newcastle, Aston Villa and West Ham winger Nobby Solano, that is exactly what happen to the Peruvian during Saturday’s match between Larissa and Olympiakos.
Solano moved to Greek side Larissa last summer, however at the ripe age of 34 his appearances have been limited to just seven matches. Nevertheless, the trusted right-foot of Solano proved to still be highly effective as the number seven cracked in a superb half-volley from outside the area in the 75th minute to draw the hosts level in yesterday’s Greek Super League fixture.
Cue the nonsense.
As Solano peeled away to celebrate his first goal for his new club, the forward lifted the front of his shirt over his head to reveal a message on a t-shirt he was wearing underneath. Having been earlier booked, Solano then picked up a second yellow card for his behaviour, forcing the Pervian to leave the pitch and take an early bath.
Nobby Solano’s ridiculous red card can be seen here (2 minutes in).
