Tragedy struck Sudanese and NIgerian football on Saturday after 23-year-old Endurance Idahor collapsed and died during a league match in Sudan between Al-Marreekh and Al-Amal.
The incident occurred after just 12 minutes of the match, as Nigerian-born forward Idahor was rushed to hospital after a challenge from a fellow player left him on his back, unable to breathe. According to local reports, Idahor died in the ambulance on the way to the hospital.
Idahor played for Nigerian sides Julius Berger and Dolphins before joining Merreikh in 2006. He finished as top goal scorer during his first season in Sudan. He also had a loan spell at Nassr in Saudi Arabia in 2008.
