Mourinho brings up Benitez while defending decision to sub John Terry (Video)

Jose Mourinho vehemently defended his decision to take off captain John Terry during the defeat at Manchester City today.

It was the first time Mourinho had taken Terry off in a Premier League game, a change that was simply tactical, the Chelsea boss claimed, citing the greater speed required to defend a high line.

And the Portuguese seemed bemused by the notion he could be questioned for taking Terry off at all, considering the treatment he received by his predecessors.

Name dropping Roberto Di Matteo, Andre Villas Boas and Rafa Benitez, Mourinho reminded that he is the one who restored Terry’s status as a first choice mainstay.
