“It’s going be with me for a long time. I’ll be hearing about it for years.” - Alexander Soderlund.
In truth it didn’t matter, but Alexander Soderlund posted a sublime entry for the miss of the season on Saturday in Norway.
Viking suffered their first ever home defeat at the Viking Stadium (opened in April 2011) last weekend, succumbing to a 2-nil loss by Haugesund.
Goals by Alexander Soderlund and Geir Ludvig Fevang put an end to Viking’s year-long home record, but the result should have been an inflated 3-0 win for the visitors had Soderlund not fluffed an incredible open goal.
After Nikola Durdic had burst through the Viking backline and laid a sitter on a plate for Soderlund just four-yards from goal, the number nine amazingly ballooned the ball over the bar when scoring looked easier.
The commentators immediately labelled the episode a “YouTube hit!”
