Round two of the Chilean Apertura played out last weekend, and the big surprise saw Santiago Wanderers beat Universidad Catolica 2-1.
To recap, Universidad Catolica were the only team to beat the all-conquering Universidad de Chile during the second half of 2011. Moreover, Santiago Wanderers were doing nothing much in mid-table during the same period.
Onto the events of last weekend, and the Wanderers took a two goal lead in windy conditions at Estadio Playa Ancha in Valparaiso. The goal of the game though, was scored by Universidad Catolica’s Michael Rios.
Amid the blustery conditions, Rios watched a corner kick take a huge detour and banana its way into the far top corner of the net.
