Mesut Ozil the butt of many Man United jokes after “going missing” in Arsenal defeat at Old Trafford
- November 10, 2013
Perhaps because he was on the back of the Sunday Sun, predicting an end to Man United’s season, or because he is so revered by Arsenal fans, Mesut Ozil was the butt of many jokes after the Gunners’ 1-0 defeat at Old Trafford.
Arsenal’s record signing failed to make an impact on the Premier League clash, barely involved at all at Old Trafford with the likes of Chris Smalling and Phil Jones often winning challenges against the German playmaker.
Ozil’s performance was very much summed up by a header with 20 minutes to go… that he didn’t really even attempt, as Arsenal searched for an equaliser (See GIF above).
Social media lit up with jokes about Ozil post match although you suspect the Real Madrid playmaker could well have the last laugh by the end of the season.
After all, Arsenal are still two points clear at the summit of the Premier League.

Mesut Ozil is a magician. He could make himself invisible while playing.

This proves a point, Man Utd doesnt need Mesut Ozil. Man Utd only needs Arsenal's ex captain :D

To call it 'slack' is a little harsh but Ozil's form has undoubtedly dropped off.
