“We knew his threat but just didn’t stop him. Once we were two goals up we should have got our midfield tighter and made them sit there to stop him turning on our back four. There is a way to play those type of players and that’s kill the threat but we didn’t do that. You could tell he was full of confidence because towards the end he was going on lots of dribbles and we were part of that to be honest.” – Preston defender Billy Jones.
An inspired performance from on-loan Tottenham trickster Adel Taarabt helped QPR come from 2-down away at Preston at the weekend to earn the Super Hoops a draw.
After Billy Jones and Callum Davidson had put the hosts in a commanding lead, Taarabt was given space to torment the Preston defence and made them pay for their slackness. The Moroccan midfielder picked out Peter Ramage to hand Neil Warnock’s men a lifeline and then found Tamas Priskin with a touch of brilliance for the striker’s leveller.
Taarabt almost set up a winner for Rangers too and the Spurs-man showing lightning quick feet to set up Rowan Vine for what should have been the winner for the Londoners but the forward fired his shot over the bar.
