Apologies for the slight delay in bringing these goals to attention.
As the senior sides where preparing for the Wembley show-down in the FA Cup, last Thursday night saw the coming together of Manchester United and Everton in the reserves, as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side once again ran out winners chalking up the 2-nil win.
United were ahead after just eight minutes.
Lee Martin was the architect as the midfielder played a couple of one-twos through the Toffees outfield, eventually carrying the ball to the edge of the Merseysiders’ box. With the hard work done Martin almost ruined everything by treading unfortunately on the ball, only for Martin to regain possession, fashion space and tee up Danny Drinkwater for the opener.
Ten minutes later and it was two. Magnus Eikrem’s free-kick deflected off the wall and looped wide, straight into the path of United’s new Belgian defender signed from Stoke, Ritchie De Laet. Instinctivbely the number five adjusted his body, managing to guide a header into the far post for his first goal for United.
