Last Tuesday night the West London derby between Fulham and Chelsea peaked in the FA Barclay Reserve Premier League, with the Cottagers earning a 2-1 victory and the limited bragging rights.
Fulham laid out their intentions naming an experienced side that included Pascal Zuberbuhler, Fredrik Stoor, Chris Baird, Erik Nevland and Diomansy Kamara, while Giles Barnes continued his return to full fitness in the centre of the Fulham midfield. By contrast Chelsea’s side was mainly comprised of youngsters except for the inclusions of former Brazil international midfielder Mineiro and Portuguese winger Ricardo Quaresma.
The hosts moved ahead on the stroke of halftime, Eric Nevland giving the Whites the lead turning home a Julian Gray knockdown from a Kamara cross. Back came Chelsea, Mineiro equalising after the midfielder punishing slack defending in the Fulham backline to fire the ball beyond the reach of Zuberbuhler. But the hosts were not to be denied, Michael Uwezu (pictured) came off the bench to hit the winner with a confident close range strike.
