Martin Jol’s Hamburg are back on top of the Bundesliga; Last-gasp Kuranyi earns Schalke a point with Wolfsburg

Schalke 2 – Wolfsburg 2 (Bundesliga, October 5, 2008) Kevin Kuranyi connected with a knock-down to volley Schalke ahead. The visitors struck back after the break, a throw-in from the right was volleyed into the box where Dzeko headed home the equaliser. And Wolfsburg looked to have completed the turnaround when slick one-touch passing freed Silva who buried his shot in the near post. But a last-gasp leveller from Kuranyi earned Schalke a point.

Borussia Dortmund 1 – Hannover 1 (Bundesliga, October 5, 2008) Nelson Valdez opened the scoring for Dortmund in the 10th minute before Mikael Forssell grabbed in equaliser midway through the first half.

Energie Cottbus 1 – Hamburg 2 (Bundesliga, October 5, 2008) (Longer highlights here.) Ivica Olic’s 53rd minute opener was cancelled out by Branko Jelic in the 73rd minute, before Petric continued his purple patch in front of goal with a last minute winner, his fifth goal in the past three games. Hamburg return to the top of the Bundesliga.
