After a man of the match display in Holland U21s 5-1 win over Russia in Jerusalem on Sunday night, Dutch journalists questioned Marco van Ginkel about a possible move to Chelsea.
Despite many Dutch youngsters shying away from speaking about big transfer moves during the Under-21 European Championships, van Ginkel appeared to open the door to a move to Chelsea this summer.
In recent weeks the Vitesse Arnhem midfielder has been linked with Chelsea and returning Blues boss Jose Mourinho is believed to be an admirer.
After the Russia rout, van Ginkel told Ad.nl: “I’m flattered by their interest.”
Whether Chelsea will buy van Ginkel and then loan him back to Vitesse or to another club in Holland seems likely as it may take some time for the Dutch youngster to break through into the first team in west London.
