Angel Di Maria looks like being this summer’s Gareth Bale: the transfer saga that could go right to the wire.
The Argentine midfielder is keen on a move away due to his decreasing chances of regular first team football at Real Madrid, but his boss Carlo Ancelotti wants to keep him at all costs; even if he can’t always start him following James’ arrival, he sees him as a key squad member.
Sky Sports’ Guillem Balague has updated on the situation, reporting that PSG – who ruled themselves out 2 weeks ago due to the elevate price – are still in for Di Maria, as are Manchester United.
Balague sees it as a bit of a standoff, with each party waiting on the other to make the next move.
By all accounts, it looks like United will be the one to make that move, with reports in England claiming Van Gaal is lining up a £100m package to lure the Argentine to Old Trafford.
Di María: chess game going on. Ancelotti, PSG+United want him. RM not willing to pay him €8m net. Nobody giving next step yet.
